Most notable events are:
- Arrifana Sardine Festival - usually on the last Saturday of July. At Arrifana fishing harbour, take a trip out in the local fishing boats to bless the coming season by throwing flowers into the sea, then back to the harbour for free sardines and beer.
- Arrifana Sunset Festival – on the Sunday after the fishing festival. Live music and dancing till 5am, in the most dramatic location.
- Aljezur Festival of music – last weekend of August. Lots of different music and cultural performances throughout the day, culminating at the Castle, where you can dance till the early hours, with the lights of Aljezur spread out beneath you.
- Mega Sardinha Festival – on the 29thAugust to mark the end of summer. The town council put on a great party for the town, with free sardines, wine and live music.
- Traditional Swim – on the morning of 29thAugust, there is a traditional dip for all in the sea at Monte Clerigo.
- Sweet Potato Festival – the first weekend of december. A large event promoting the local sweet potato produce, which is nationally famed. Lasting all weekend, with restaurants showcasing local dishes, stalls with arts and crafts and local food producers. Then music and entertainment until the evening.
- Carnival – held in the middle of Feburary, every town and village celebrates with a costume party.
